I did! Last weekend. To my two girls who wanted me to play with them. Right about now I am slapping myself.
It had been a crazy weekend. The girls were super active and I had a long week at work, so all I wanted to do was curl up with my game and not use my brains for half an hour. But the girls did not get the memo.
After I had my little outburst and the girls went quietly to their play kitchen and left cranky mommy alone, I felt thissmall. I called them back and asked them what they wanted to do. They both shrugged. My 22-month-old SHRUGGED? This was bad!
Angel then said she wanted to make flowers, like the one her toy rabbit had. OK, done. I took out my felt squares and soon they were choosing the color of their petals and volunteering to cut up the felt. When they got tired of cutting, they started to cover my floor with the felt and played lily pad. This was where they jump from one square to another, you know, like frogs on lily pads.
I was left to finish the flowers by myself. I sewed a rubber band on each flower and they wore it in their hair.
This was them trying to be Aladdin on the magic carpet. The rest of the afternoon was spent with my game firmly tucked away. There's always time for that when they go off to college.
