I had a fresh batch of berries from Saturday's shopping spree. I made my rounds at the organic shops for the girls and bought a lot of supplies to stock up a nearly empty fridge. Strawberries and blueberries, organic cream and cheddar cheese for their pastas, cheese cubes for snacks, a medley of organic vegetables for their meals, some quinoa pasta shells, organic egg noodles and organic papaya.
Lauren had blueberries in her oatmeal and Angelica had strawberries. I hadn't let Lauren try strawberries yet, as they can be allergenic for young babies. But of course Lauren needs to eat what Angelica is eating, and when she saw her sister eat the succulent fruit, she promptly swiped one from her plate and now, Lauren has tried strawberries.
Angelica's Strawberry Oatmeal.
Cook oatmeal with barley flakes until soft. Sprinkle oat bran, sesame seeds and cinnamon powder on top. Drizzle a teaspoon of coconut oil and honey (do not add honey for babies younger than 1 year. I would just leave it out as the oatmeal is sweet enough.) Top with strawberries or any other berries of your choice.
