After 3 weeks of organic rice cereal, I couldn't wait to give Lauren her first taste of apples. I quartered an apple and steamed it with the skin on. After about 10 minutes of steaming, I remove the slices and peel off the skin. If they're soft enough, I simply grate them finely and they're ready to be eaten. Otherwise, I put them in the blender for a really smooth texture.
Lauren started out with one teaspoon of apple mixed with organic rice cereal (about 3 to 4 teaspoons). I scoop the rest of the apples into an ice-cube tray and freeze them. Voila! Lauren's meals taken care of for the week:) She takes a cube at a time, so come mealtimes, I'll just take a cube out and steam it to heat it up, and mix it with rice cereal.
I let Lauren try a new food for three mornings in a row, to test for any allergies. The schedule goes like this:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: am: apples + cereal, noon: cereal, dinner: cereal
Thursday, Friday, Saturday: am: new food A + cereal, noon: apples + cereal: dinner: cereal
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday: am: new food B + cereal, noon: new food A + cereal, dinner: Apples + cereal
and so on....
You get the drift.
When baby has tried enough new foods, you can mix them up.
