I lost control over Angel's bedtime, so with Lauren, I decided to start things off on the right foot. When my sister was around last month, she put my nephew to bed every night at around 8-ish. I was so envious! 8 o'clock sounded like mommy heaven! She said she had been training him since he was three months old. Every day, without fail, she would start the bedtime ritual at 5 pm. Bath, wind down, bed. Now it takes her about half an hour to put him to bed.
I decided to do the same with Lauren. I started when she was about 4 weeks old, when her sleeping patterns were more established. I gave her a bath at noon for her to nap. She naps very lightly during the day, sleeping for 45 minutes at a time, and about 2 to 3 times. Then at 7pm, I fed her and gave her another bath. Then I would carry her and pat her to sleep. In the beginning, it took me about 2 hours each time to get her to drift off. The time gradually became shorter. Now it takes me 30 to 45 minutes to get her to sleep. For the last few nights, she went to bed slightly before 8.
She feeds about 3 times during the night, and is usually awake by 6 am.
No complaints from me!
