For the last few weeks, Angel watched a LOT of TV. In fact, it was her main activity. But last night, I sneaked in her favourite Dr. Seuss books and told her I wanted to read them. She watched me read for a while and soon said she wanted me to read them out loud.
I read one of her old favourites (Great Day For UP) and three new ones (Marvin K Mooney, ABC and Go, Dog, Go). She had me repeat them 4 or 5 times each.
Whenever your kid asks you to read the book again and again, do so, even if you feel like pulling your hair out. It enhances their memory and listening to a story over and over again is one of the essential pre-reading skills.
Welcome back, Dr. Seuss!
